Indiana University
International Dentist Program
(IU-IDP)
Application for admission to the entering class of 2013 is now closed. We expect our application for the 2014 cycle to be available in May. Please check back then. Current application to CAAPID is encouraged.
Thank you for your interest in the Indiana University International Dentist Program (IU-IDP). The IU-IDP offers qualified graduates of foreign dental programs the opportunity to earn the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Upon successful completion of a prematriculation evaluation and training course and the advanced standing placement DDS program, graduates are eligible to take state or regional clinical board examinations to be eligible for dental licensure and dental practice within the United States.
The IU-IDP is a full-time, daily program with its own admissions and application forms. The accepted 12 students will begin at the dental school in Indianapolis in July 2013 with graduation anticipated in a minimum of 24 months. After the interview phase, and prior to July 1, selected interviewees will be invited to participate in a 4 week prematriculation evaluation and training course to review the first 2 years of dental school and determine advanced placement within the existing DDS curriculum. Please note that an invitation for the prematriculation phase is not a guarantee of acceptance, rather it provides the opportunity to finalize the selection of the accepted 12 candidates. Matriculation occurs through the 3rd and 4th years of the DDS dental program with classroom lectures and direct patient care in the general practice group, departmental rotation, and community-based clinics follows.
Application Deadline
The application deadline for the IU-IDP class starting in 2013 is April 15, 2013. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs at Indiana University School of Dentistry before this date or postmarked no later than this date. Incomplete applications will be kept on file, but they will not be considered for the class starting in 2013. An email from the Admissions Office will be sent to the applicant once their application is complete. Please note that information regarding the status of an applicant or an application cannot be released over the phone.
