IU School of Dentistry faculty member Dr. Susan L. Zunt, professor of oral
pathology, was installed as president of the American Academy of Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology (AAOMP) during the organizations annual meeting in
Montreal, May 15-20. She was elected to the office last June during the AAOMPs
joint meeting with the International Association of Oral Pathologists in San
Francisco.
A member of the IU dental faculty since 1979, Zunt chairs the dental schools
Department of Oral Pathology, Medicine, and Radiology. She holds a dental
degree from Case Western Reserve University and an IU masters degree in oral
and maxillofacial pathology, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral
and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Zunt is a former chair of the American Dental Education Associations
Council of Faculties and the associations Pathology Section. She also served
as education director for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Pathology and as president of the American Cancer Societys Great Lakes
Division. She has represented the IU School of Dentistry on the Indiana Cancer
Consortium since 2002.
Zunts term as president of the AAOMP will be completed at the academys
annual session in Tucson, Ariz., in May 2010.
