IU School of Dentistry faculty member Dr. Susan L. Zunt, professor of oral
pathology, was installed as president of the American Academy of Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology (AAOMP) during the organization’s annual meeting in
Montreal, May 15-20. She was elected to the office last June during the AAOMP’s
joint meeting with the International Association of Oral Pathologists in San
Francisco.
A member of the IU dental faculty since 1979, Zunt chairs the dental school’s
Department of Oral Pathology, Medicine, and Radiology. She holds a dental
degree from Case Western Reserve University and an IU master’s degree in oral
and maxillofacial pathology, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral
and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Zunt is a former chair of the American Dental Education Association’s
Council of Faculties and the association’s Pathology Section. She also served
as education director for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Pathology and as president of the American Cancer Society’s Great Lakes
Division. She has represented the IU School of Dentistry on the Indiana Cancer
Consortium since 2002.
Zunt’s term as president of the AAOMP will be completed at the academy’s
annual session in Tucson, Ariz., in May 2010.
