IU School of Dentistry’s Graduation Awards Banquet
Recognizes 51 Members of the Classes of 2009
Congratulations to the 51 Indiana University School of Dentistry students who
received honors and awards during the school’s 2009 Graduation Awards Banquet,
held at University Place Hotel on the IUPUI campus on May 1.
Congratulations are due as well to all members of the 2009 graduating classes,
who will receive their diplomas and certificates during the IU School of
Dentistry’s Pre-Commencement ceremony at the Indiana Convention Center on
Saturday, May 9.
All IUSD faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to Pre-Commencement,
which will take place in the 500 Ballroom of the convention center, 100 South
Capitol Avenue. The processional begins at 10 a.m.
Delivering the 2009 address to the graduates is Dr. Jeffrey Dalin, a 1980
dental graduate of Indiana University, private practitioner in St. Louis, and
co-founder of the American Dental Association’s national “Give Kids a Smile”
program, which annually provides free dental care to nearly 500,000 children in
need in the United States. Others on the program include Dr. Lawrence
Goldblatt, dean of dentistry; Dr. Uday Sukhatme, executive vice chancellor and
dean of the faculties, IUPUI; and the students who have been chosen to give
farewell remarks to the graduating classes: Dental Assisting Class President Kelcie
Cox, Dental Hygiene Class President Rebecca Cook, and Dentistry Class Representative
Travis Edwards.
