Indiana University School of Dentistry

Dear Alumni and Friends,

I am excited to announce the Indiana University School of Dentistry has exceeded its goal of raising $35 million by 103% in private philanthropy and non-governmental grants 5 months in advance of the end of the campaign!  Your generosity, loyalty and thoughtfulness to our school and its mission are truly valued by students, staff, administration and faculty.  I am also pleased to report that for fiscal year 2010-2011, IUSD acknowledged a record 437 Dean's Society members (gifts of $1,000 or more from July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011).

Most importantly, your gifts have shown your commitment to our continuing vision to be "one of the best dental schools of the 21st century".

We continue to make progress on our initiatives to upgrade our existing facilities by remodeling several small group classrooms, renovation of our main lobby and patient waiting areas.  In addition, this spring will see the renovation of two large lecture halls.  Most importantly, planning continues for a new clinical and research faciltiy.  The theme of our building endeavor is officially titled, "Enhancing our Future:  The Campaign for New Clinical and Research Facilities at Indiana University School of Dentistry".  In the next few months, you will be hearing more about the new building campaign and how you can participate in bringing to reality this long awaited upgrade to our patient clinics and research laboratories.

The 2012-13 academic year continues with our work on preparing a comprehensive accreditation self-study for each academic program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).  The faculty, staff, and administration's active engagement in this process helps our school remain in top form. Reaccreditation, which occurs every seven years, encourages us to rethink and affirm essentials of the DDS curriculum and those of our other academic programs.  Our next CODA site visit is set for September 2013.  We are so pleased that this exercise has involved so many faculty and administrators in dialogue about the future of our school and has brought us closer together as a school family.

On behalf of the school, I thank you for your generous financial support.  Thank you for your continued belief and investment in IUSD as we work to make it truly "one of the best dental schools of the 21st century".

Best regards,

John Hoffman
