Restorative Dentistry

The Department of Restorative Dentistry has two clinics, one for the Graduate Prosthodontic Program and one for the Graduate Operative Program.  The Graduate Prosthodontics clinic is located at the South end of the third floor of the Dental School in Rooms S311 and S312.  The Graduate Operative Clinic is located at the South end of the fourth floor of the Dental School in Room S422.  Our residents see patients in our clinics under the supervision of licensed faculty members.

IUSD offers two postdoctoral residency programs in the discipline of Operative Dentistry leading to a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) degree:  a two-year Operative Dentistry degree and a three-year combined Operative/Preventive Dentistry degree.  Training is divided equally between didactics, clinical patient care, and research.  Please visit our Graduate Operative Dentistry page for more information.

Each of the Restorative Department's divisions maintains laboratory facilities.
  
Graduate Operative:  Wet Lab, Dry Lab and classroom, and computer lab.

Dental BioMaterials:  Mechanical Testing, Tempering and High Temperature Ceramic Processing, Specimen Preparation, Optical Microscopy, Elemental Analysis, and computer Laboratories.

The department has more than 40 full-time, part-time, and volunteer faculty members working with students in both the undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as in the clinics.  Many faculty members also maintain a private practice along with their work in the school.  Our faculty members stay current with developments and current issues in their specific disciplines within Restorative Dentistry by attending lectures, continuing educations courses, and conferences throughout the world and involving themselves in and overseeing various research projects.
