Giving
The Department works in conjunction with the IUSD Office of Development and the Office of Alumni Relations on campus to coordinate our development campaigns. All funds are maintained by the IU Foundation, a public charitable organization with tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of U.S. IRS code.
The funds are under the stewardship of the Department chair or other designee as determined by the donor gift agreement. Funds can be restricted to scholarships, research, or permanent endowment of a faculty member. Foundation funds are used to supplement general funds and state appropriations in addition to financing purchases and activities otherwise restricted by State or IU policy.
