Practical approaches for tackling tobacco addiction topic of program for health care providers
A free continuing education program by Indiana University dental school and medical school professors is designed to provide guidance to health care providers in their efforts to help their patients stop smoking.
“How to Help Your Patients Quit: Practical, In-Office Approaches for Tackling the Problem of Tobacco” will be offered in six Indiana communities during fall 2012 and spring 2013, with the first course to be held in Tell City on Oct. 13.
The program is made possible by a grant from the Indiana State Department of Health's Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Commission and is a collaboration of the Indiana Dental Hygienists’ Association, the Indiana University School of Dentistry, the Tobacco Cessation and Biobehavioral Group of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, the Indiana University School of Medicine Division of Continuing Medical Education and the Indiana University School of Nursing Office of Lifelong Learning.
Other program sites and dates are Richmond, Nov. 17; Madison, Dec. 1; Lafayette, Feb. 23; Vincennes, April 13; and Goshen, May 4.
