A study conducted in four American Indian communities in the Pacific Northwest presents an effective strategy to convince mothers to switch young children from drinking sweetened soda to water and shows that eliminating these sugary drinks from the diets of the youngest members of the tribe significantly decreased tooth decay.

Administrative Transition Complete at IU Dental School
John N. Williams Jr., D.M.D., M.B.A., former dental dean at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill, began his new appointment as dean of Indiana University School of Dentistry on June 15, 2010. He is the ninth person to hold the position in the 131-year history of Indiana’s dental school. (The Indiana Dental College, established in 1879, became part of IU in 1925.)
Study Looks at Test Marketing of New Tobacco Products in Indianapolis
A study of the promotion in the Indianapolis area of R.J. Reynolds' new dissolvable tobacco products found that they are being marketed to current smokers who continue to puff away, but may be looking for an alternative source of nicotine when they can’t light up.
