IUPUI MURI
(Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Institute) recipients from IUSDs
Public Health Dental Hygiene Program as well as from IUPUIs School of Science,
School of Education, and Kelley School of Business were awarded blue-ribbon status
for the Senior Division at IUPUIs Research Day on April 9, 2010. Their poster
abstract entitled, “Promotions and Public Perceptions of
New Dissolvable Tobacco Products,” was a study to
document and evaluate the promotion of the new dissolvable tobacco products
test-marketed in central Indiana; R.J. Reynolds Camel Orbs, Camel Strips, and Camel
Sticks. This MURI project was under the mentorship of faculty associated with
the IUPUI Tobacco Cessation and Biobehavioral Group (TCBC) at the IU School of
Dentistry: Dr. Laura Romito, Oral Biology,
Prof. Lorinda Coan, Periodontics and Allied Dental Programs, and Dr. Kim
Saxton, Clinical Assistant Professor of Marketing, IUPUI Kelley School of
Business. This poster abstract was also presented at the IU School of
Dentistrys Research Day, April 12, 2010. MURI recipients and faculty pictured front
