  • Traveled to all regions of Indiana, providing over 1,221 visits to Title I schools, community health centers, Head Start programs and shelters for the homeless and victims of domestic violence.
    Currently, SEAL INDIANA is primarily using portable dental units in schools as an effort to refine a delivery system that can be replicated by other agencies serving the oral health needs of low-income children.

  • Completed more than 22,181 examinations for low-income Indiana children, where over half of the children examined had untreated dental disease. Each child receives a toothbrush, toothpaste and brushing instructions, along with the other services. Each child alsotakes home a dental report, informing their parents/guardians of what treatment was provided and what follow-up is needed.

  • From March 2003 to June 2012, Seal Indiana has placed over 36,087 dental sealants on back teeth
    and provided 18,260 fluoride varnish treatments.

    In a typical day, the SEAL INDIANA team of IUSD faculty, staff and 4th-year dental students serves an average of 20 to 25 children who are the least likely to receive regular dental care.

  • Participated in events or community outreach programs such as the Special Olympics 500 Festival Kids Fest, Mayor’s Latino Fest, IU Day at the State Fair and Santa comes to town. Seal Indiana has provided 2495 screenings to children in these events.
