Shelter Sealant Program

What was originally planned as a Children's Dental Health Month activity has grown to a regular monthly event. Free dental sealants are being provided for children who are residents in Indianapolis homeless shelters and shelters for victims of domestic violence. In November 2000, when a request was made to the Student Affair Council for 40 students, staff and faculty volunteered  to help with this project - an overwhelming 110 volunteered. Because of the enthusiastic response of IUSD personnel and the warm welcome of shelter staff, the program will continue on a regular basis. The agencies that are currently participating are Julian Center, Coburn Place, Holy Family Shelter, and Dayspring Shelter.
