The IUSD Outreach Committee has worked together since February 1989. Its
mission is to improve oral health and to provide community service by
promoting IUSD student, faculty, and staff participation in high-quality
and effective oral health outreach programs.
The outreach committee
explores, analyzes and develops specific programs and linkages with other
agencies, institutions, and individuals in Marion County in the state of
Indiana. The committee meets bi-monthly and is chaired by Dr. Arden G.
Christen. This interdisciplinary group represents faculty from IUSD, and
also representatives from dental public health agencies, other IUPUI
schools, and Indianapolis social service agencies. Contact is maintained
with numerous groups, including Bridges to Success, Indiana State
Department of Health, Marion County Health Department, People's Health
Center, The Indiana University Nicotine Dependent Program, Indiana Donated
Dental Services and many others.
