Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology

 

Definition

Oral & maxillofacial pathology is defined by the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology as the specialty of dentistry & pathology which deals with the nature, identification, & management of diseases affecting the oral & maxillofacial regions.  It is a science that investigates the causes, processes, & effects of these diseases.

The practice of oral & maxillofacial pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations, & management of patients.
