Dr. Nadim M. Islam completed his oral pathology training at the University of Florida College of Dentistry (Gainesville), Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology where he held a dual appointment as a Research Fellow in the UFCD departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & in Craniofacial Pain & Temporomandibular Dysfunction Management prior to accepting his position at IUSD.   He received his degree in dentistry from the Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College & Hospital at the University of Calcutta, Calcutta, India.  After receiving his dental degree he practiced general dentistry in several locations throughout India & did a four year stint as a General Dentist with the Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Dr. Islam is especially interested in diagnostic surgical & clinical oral pathology, diagnosis & management of craniofacial pain & temporomandibular dysfunction, & dental education.  A member of the American Dental Education Association & American Dental  Association,  a Fellow, by examination, of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, & a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology.  Scholarly interests include tobacco associated oral precancerous lesions, as well as various muccocutaneous conditions of autoimmune origin.  He has a special interest in Chronic Ulcerative Stomatitis & has made a major contribution to the literature on this entity.  Dr Islam has published extensively on various topics of dermatopathology, oral pathology &  oral medicine in peer-reviewed medical/dental journals.
