Mythily Srinivasan, BDS, MDS,
PhD

| In November of 2002 Dr.
Mythily Srinivasan
joined the faculty of Indiana University School of Dentistry as an
Assistant Professor in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, where she
serves as the Director of the
Cancer Biology and Immunology
Laboratory. After
graduating with a BDS from the University of Nagpur, India in 1990, Dr.
Srinivasan completed special training at the same university in Oral
Pathology and Microbiology. She has a passion for research and
furthered her education by earning a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology
from The Ohio State University in 2001. She then served as a
Research Associate in Pathology at OSU where her primary responsibilities
included developing & implementing molecular diagnostic tests for
cutaneous lymphoma using PCR-SSCP & studying the role of
antigen-presenting cells in immune tolerance. Dr. Srinivasan is a
published researcher in two broad areas of research: the role of
trace elements in the etiopathogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma
& the predictive potential of a panel of biomarkers in oral
precancer. Work for the this second area of research was begun at
the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (India) & completed at
OSU. Additionally, Dr. Srinivasan has a patent pending for Peptide
therapy for T-cell mediated immune responses. |
