Dr. Jack Schaaf  began his association with Indiana University in 1968 as an undergraduate on the Bloomington campus.  From there,  he moved to the Indianapolis campus to attend Indiana University  School of Dentistry for both his graduate and postdoctoral studies, completed in 1975 & 1978 respectively.   While working on his postdoctoral degree in Oral Diagnosis/Oral Medicine, Dr. Schaaf became an Associate Instructor & has remained on the faculty ever since.  He is currently an Associate Professor with teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate, graduate, dental hygiene & dental assisting curriculum.  He is also the past recipient of numerous teaching awards.  A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine, Dr. Schaaf is also a member of the Indianapolis District Dental Society, Indiana Dental Association, Indiana Society of Forensic Odontology,  American Dental Association, Organization of Teachers of Oral Diagnosis, American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology,  American Dental Education Association (formerly the American Association of Dental Schools), & Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental fraternity.  He currently serves as a consultant to both Wishard Memorial and Indiana University Hospitals in Indianapolis & has been named an Honorary Sheriff's Deputy for his many years of service as the Staff Dentist at the Marion County Jail.    In addition, Dr. Schaaf has provided dental service to the participants of many national & international sports competitions held in Indianapolis since the early 1980s.  He is well-respected for & continues to be sought out for his expertise on infection control matters & treatment of the medically compromised dental patient.
