| Assistant Professor of Orthodontics
Dr. Sean (Shih-Yao) Liu joined the department in November 2008. Originally, from Taiwan, Dr.
Liu earned his DDS (1999) and MS in Orthodontics (2003) at Taipei Medical University. He
went on to pursue a PhD (2008) in Biomedical Sciences at Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr.
Liu’s main thrust in research is on sutural expansion and their reaction to force. At IU,
Dr. Liu is primarily charged with maintaining an active research program and teaching the
didactic component of G927 – Research in Orthodontics. Dr. Liu is a member of the
International Association for Dental Research, American Association for Dental Research,
and American Association of Orthodontists.
