Special Hours
The Dental Library, established in 1881 as a faculty library, provides
resources and services to support the teaching, research, patient care and
community outreach services of the faculty, staff and students of the Indiana University School of
Dentistry and serves as a source of dental health information
for IU School of Dentistry alumni, Indiana citizens and other dental
health professionals.
The Library holds over 57,000 volumes on dentistry, as well as,
the basic sciences and selected medical specialties.
It has subscriptions to nearly 600 current print journal titles. Its
collection of over 26,000 books and 31,000 bound journal volumes date
back to the mid-1800s and are international in scope.
As part of the Indiana
University Library System, the IU School of Dentistry Library's
collections are included in the system-wide web-accessible catalog, IUCAT.
IUCAT provides access the collections of all of the IU
Libraries, including the Ruth
Lilly Medical Library, the Ruth
Lilly Law Library and University
Library, all located on the IUPUI
campus.
In addition to IUCAT, the library provides access to a number of subject
specific databases and full-text electronic resources, including MEDLINE
and other health related databases, as well as links to full-text
journal articles and texts.
The Library's public access workstations provide access to library and
campus-wide accessible electronic resources.
Wireless as well as wired connections are available in the main
floor reading rooms for laptop users.
Other Library services include: archives collections, database
searching, interlibrary loan, reference, reserve collections,
self-service photocopy, and study areas.
