Welcome to the School of Dentistry Library Special Collections!

The Special Collections were established in 1991 through grant  monies from the Indianapolis Heritage Research Grants Project. This grant enabled staff to organize and display historical materials the library had been collecting for many years. An Indianapolis Foundation grant provided additional funds to continue these activities and to purchase preservation materials. Library operational funds support the continued development of this collection.

The Special Collections focus on the following areas:

Indiana Dental College
Indiana University School of Dentistry
Alumni, faculty, staff, and students of IDC or IUSD
Dentistry as a profession and its allied fields
Dentistry throughout the world
Dental research    

We welcome questions regarding the collection and potential donations. Please direct inquiries to library staff by e-mail or phone (317) 274-7204. In accordance with library policy, we are unable to appraise gifts, but we will provide a "Deed of Gift" form and a list of the items donated.
