Indiana
University General Practice Residency
Indiana
University offers an accredited one-year post-doctoral general practice
residency (GPR) program to six residents each year. On the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University
at Indianapolis (IUPUI),
the program has links to multiple resources, including
Indiana University School
of Medicine and School
of Dentistry. Residents provide services at the Regenstrief Dental Clinic at Wishard
Memorial Hospital, Grassy Creek Dental Clinic (located in a Wishard Health
Services Community Health Center), and at the University
Hospital dental clinic
at Indiana University Medical
Center. In addition, they are involved with rotations in oral and maxillofacial
surgery, general anesthesia, family practice medicine, the Cancer Center at
Indiana University Medical Center, and the Orofacial Pain Clinic.
The focus of this
program is to provide the resident with experience in managing a variety of
dental conditions, with an emphasis on developing realistic treatment plans
based not only on the patients' dental needs, but also their physical,
behavioral, medical and financial situations.
