PRE-DOCTORAL PROGRAM
The primary goals of Department of Endodontics are to
educate the pre-doctoral students in the theoretical and clinical disciplines of
endodontology. There are seven operatories available five days a week and
implement problem based learning chair side. Knowledge acquired in the
preclinical course will be used during the clinical course in Endodontics.
The transition from laboratory to clinic is a challenge which, if met, will
result in positive achievement in the development of knowledge and skills.
The didactic and clinical aspects of endodontics emphasized may be
delivered in a general practice setting.
Pre-doctoral endodontic course is an introduction
to basic procedures and related biological principles. Lectures and
laboratory assignments relate to etiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment
of disease and injuries of the pulp and periapical tissues to prepare students
to treat endodontic patients during the clinical course D780. Didactic,
laboratory and clinical instruction in endodontics has as its goals the
acquisition of clinical skills. In presenting this material, it is
understood that supplementary information and skills will be included in the
overall dental curriculum. At the completion of pre-doctoral instruction,
the graduating dentist should be well qualified to pass the endodontic portion
of the National Board Examination.
