GRADUATE PROGRAM
Indiana University Endodontic Graduate Program is
fully accredited and in compliance with the requirements for Advanced Specialty
Education Programs in Endodontics approved by the Commission on Dental
Accreditation. There are five positions available at Indiana University and one
position at the Roudebush VAMC. Residents at Indiana University currently
receive a stipend. The VA program is associated with Indiana
University and is managed through Indiana University School of Dentistry. The Postgraduate Endodontic Program at Indiana University is a 24 month program
offering a certificate in Endodontics, a Master's in Science Degree in
Dentistry (MSD), and a minor in oral pathology.
Emphasis is given to surgical and non-surgical
cases, diagnosis, pain control, and emergency treatment. The patient pool
is very large and offers a wide variety of cases with an abundance of difficult
cases. Patient management is also stressed. The program also places
an emphasis on endodontic surgery with graduate students managing 25 to 70
cases.
Our residents have extensive training in
microscopic techniques. All operatories are equipped with microscopes,
digital radiography, ultrasonics, electric motors and more. Residents gain
experience using a variety of instrumentation and obturation techniques.
In addition to patient care and didactics, residents receive experience teaching
the pre-doctoral students in lecture, clinic, and lab.
