DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Department of Endodontics actively supports
the missions and goals of Indiana University School of Dentistry towards "always
striving for simply the best." The mission and goals are accomplished through
education, research, patient care, and service.
The Pre-doctoral Endodontic Program is directed by Dr.
Joseph Legan. He is assisted by Dr. Mychel Vail. Several well qualified
part-time endodontist and the Endodontic Graduate Students fullfill the
teaching responsibilities of the pre-doctoral program. The primary goals are to
educate the pre-doctoral students in the theoretical and clinical disciplines of
endodontology. There are operatories available five days a week to
implement chair side problem based learning.
The Graduate Endodontic Program is directed
by Dr. Cecil Brown. Our full-time faculty are supplemented by exceptionally
qualified part-time faculty, most of whom are nationally known in endodontic
surgery and are leading endodontic clinicians.
The Graduate Endodontic Program at Indiana University is 24 months long and
offers a certificate in Endodontics. A Master's in Science Degree in
Dentistry (MSD) is required in addition to the endodontic certificate. The
latest in equipment and technology, including surgical microscopes and digital
imaging are available. There are five positions available at Indiana
University and one position at the Roudebush VAMC. The VA program is
associated with Indiana University and is managed through Indiana University
School of Dentistry.
The Department of Endodontics is very active
and visible within the Indiana University School of Dentistry and endeavors to
enhancing the mission and goals of education, research, patient care and
service.
