Continuing Education Requirements

Dentists

In order to renew a dental license in 2010, a dentist must complete twenty (20) hours of continuing education credit between March 2, 2008 and March 1, 2010.

The continuing education course should be designed to directly enhance the practicing dentist's knowledge and skill in providing relevant dental services that is approved by an approved organization.

CE is not required for dentists who are currently enrolled as a graduate student or in a resident program offered by an approved organization.

All Dentists are required to complete a two (2) hour course which cover Ethics, Professional Responsibility and Indiana Statutes and Administrative Rules per renewal period.

Dental Hygienists

In order to renew a dental license in 2010, a dental hygienist must complete fourteen (14) hours of continuing education credit between March 2, 2008 and March 1, 2010.

The continuing education course should be designed to directly enhance the practicing dental hygienist's knowledge and skill in providing relevant dental hygiene services that is approved by an approved organization.

In addition, a dental hygienist will also have to be currently certified in basic life support or have successfully completed a CPR course in a program approved by the Indiana State Board of Dental Examiners.

All Hygienists are required to complete a two (2) hour course which cover Ethics, Professional Responsibility and Indiana Statutes and Administrative Rules per renewal period.
